Development Blog: Friday October 27th

Today I decided to create a Discord server so I could post regular updates about the project. We still haven't decided on a name for the game but temporarily now we are going with "Ring Executive Pro".

If you have any ideas, please post them in #suggestions channel in the Discord.

Anyway in terms of update, the reason why this milestone is so important is that for the first time... the core of the game loop is finished!

To get to this point, I needed to give the player the ability to create a new game, choose their promotion, for them to be able to interact with the UI to progress the game world.

In the backend, when the player wants to continue with the game, I need to kick off the main game loop which not only increments the game date by one tick, but also does all the things you'd expect the game to do - for example simulate the moves of opponent promotions (by hiring/firing talent, booking cards etc), retiring players, reporting on ratings and so on.

I also needed a way for the player to get feedback on those changes in the game world which in Ring Executive Pro is through the news feed.

Obviously the player will want to have multiple games so I needed slots, ways for game editors to customize the game start date and so on.

None of this stuff is actually very exciting but it's very crucial to the foundation of the game. Now that everything is in place (including a look and feel for the game which I'm happy with) - a lot of the stuff I will work on in the future will not only happen much faster but will also be more exciting to report on.
